Is 5G Network Safe?

5G is a software-defined network, which means that it mainly operates on the cloud,

replacing the need for cables and wires. This causes it to have a better capacity than 4G about a hundred-times. 5G uses radio waves with higher frequency and allows it to be accessed by more devices at once, without affecting the efficiency. On the downside, these waves travel short distances, so it requires more transmitter masts and antennas that need to be close to ground

level.

Although 5G radiation remains non-ionizing, meaning that it does not have enough

energy to destroy our DNA and cause cellular damage, it does cause obvious health problems

after being exposed to it for a long period. The U.S. Department of Health released a toxicology

report in 2018, revealing that they’ve found cancerous heart tumors developed in male rats

exposed to high amounts of radiofrequency radiation. The rats were exposed to mobile radiation before birth and somehow, female rats were not affected by it.

Furthermore, it is believed by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and

the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that 5G does not pose threats nor risks towards

humans, hence 5G networks utilize microwave and millimeter wavelength radiations. However,

roughly 215 scientists from 40 different countries have objectified and urged the U.N. to reduce

the electromagnetic field exposure released and spread by wireless sources. They’ve gone even further to submitting a letter to the FCC to ask them to consider health risks and environmental issues before broadly and rapidly installing 5G. Unfortunately, the FCC does not seem to believe that it may be harmful.

So, is it safe or not? Whilst 5G is non-ionizing, many scientists, such as Dr. L. Hardell,

Professor of Oncology at Örebro University in Sweden, suspect that the radiation could cause

damage in cells via oxidative stress in cells. This biological mechanism leads to inflammation

and has been found to cause diseases such as cancer, diabetes, asthma, etc... Hardell says, ‘The fifth-generation (5G) of radiofrequency radiation is now being developed. This is done without dosimetric determination or study of the possible health effects. The media praise in particular all the possibilities that this technology promises to offer, such as the self-propelled car and Internet of Things (IoT). The consequences for the health of humans, plants, and animals are not discussed at all. Politicians, governments, and the media are responsible for unbalanced information. Ordinary people are not informed of conflicting opinions about this technological development. Health effects from radiofrequency radiation are a non-issue in the media, at least in Sweden, but also in most other countries.’ He believes that the health of humans and animals are not contemplated enough before deployment of 5G antennas.

For now, there is simply not enough information and evidence to prove that 5G radiation

is harmful to humans. This suggests that perhaps health and environmental agencies and

corporations should explore and experiment more about what 5G does to humans and animals.
